Ringstead Primary School & RIIS Memorial School, Ghana: Building Connections Across Continents

Phoenix Resource Centre is delighted to support an exciting new international school partnership between Ringstead, Northamptonshire, UK, and RIIS Memorial School in Ghana.

The partnership brings children and teachers from two different communities together, creating opportunities to learn from one another, share experiences and develop a greater understanding of life in another part of the world. Through the project, pupils will have the opportunity to discover what school life is like in Ghana, while pupils at RIIS Memorial School can learn more about life in the UK. By sharing stories, activities, photographs, letters and educational experiences, the children can build genuine friendships and connections that extend far beyond the classroom.

The partnership is designed to support global learning, cultural awareness and sustainability, while giving children the chance to see the world from a different perspective. Pupils can explore subjects such as:

• Different cultures, communities and traditions

• Education and school life in the UK and Ghana

• Sustainability and caring for our environment

• Sport, hobbies and activities

• Art, creativity and music

• Food and everyday life

• Geography and the similarities and differences between communities

• Communication and developing friendships across the world

These activities encourage children to ask questions, challenge assumptions and appreciate the experiences of others.

We are excited to see how the relationship between Ringstead and RIIS Memorial School develops over the coming months and years. Our ambition is for this to become a long-term, meaningful partnership, with regular communication between the schools and opportunities for pupils to continue learning from one another. From classroom projects and resource sharing to cultural exchanges and collaborative activities, there are many exciting possibilities ahead.
